Centrifugally cast bronzes and brasses

Centrifugal casting is one of the methods of producing hollow profiles – tubes, bushings, bearings, flange bushings, annular rings, etc.

Production process:

The desired alloy is melted in the furnace and then poured into the casting machine, which rotates on its axis; due to centrifugal forces, the alloy collects at the wall of the casting machine until it cools and hardens.

According to the location of the axis of rotation, centrifugal casting is divided into horizontal and vertical. Horizontal casting is usually used to produce larger castings, while vertical casting is used for smaller castings or when the outer diameter is larger than the length.

Centrifugal casting is one of the methods of producing hollow profiles – tubes, bushings, bearings, flange bushings, annular rings, etc.

Dimensions of castings:

Maximum outer diameter up to 6,000 mm; maximum length up to 5,200 mm, minimum wall thickness 12 mm (depending on grade)

Advantages of centrifugal casting

Due to centrifugal forces the material has a homogeneous fine-grained structure, better mechanical properties than gravity castings and is free of the usual defects associated with casting on model equipment, the costly production of which is eliminated with this method. The dimensional range is very wide and it is possible to cast small series of different alloys even according to Czech standards.

Delivery options

The castings are delivered as roughened to the required dimensions or as finished according to the drawing documentation.

Examples of use

Guide and plain bushes, plain bearings, nuts, bearing cages, rings, flange bearings and other machine parts.

Most commonly cast alloys:

Alloy CSN EN
CuSn8 423018 CW453K
CuSn10Zn2 423138
CuSn12 423123 CC483K
CuSn7Zn4Pb7 423137 CC496K
CuAl10Fe3 423146 CW306G
CuZn31MnAl 423322
CuZn35Al5Fe3Mn2 423311

For standard sizes the best delivery option is continuously cast tubes, which are available from our warehouse http://www.unibar.cz/non-ferrous-metals.

If you need larger dimensions or if the required dimensions are not close to the standard range of continuously cast tubes, centrifugal casting is a suitable solution.

Centrifugally cast castings are requested in the required net dimensions.
